While bingo halls have been morphing over time in an effort to appeal to a wider audience of players, these days it is not uncommon to spot new themeed clubs that offer a wider range of gaming choices for more fans off the beaten path of the typical bingo circuit. One such club in Canada has made an effort to appeal to a whole different crowd altogether by tying their experience in with the music that their players are deeply attached to. This club, the Ship and Anchor of Calgary, offers a different experience for Canadian players on 17th Avenue and brings together Brit punk tunes blasting over the speaker system and a rousing game of bingo that appeals to a much younger audience than is traditionally the case with most bingo halls around the world. This growing atrraction by the young has lead to a rather strange mix of prizes that the club offers, as well, including Spice girls dolls, a Lite Brite set and even a tiny scale model of Buddha.
This punk rock flavored gaming experience has pulled in a very young crowd from many that would otherwise be enjoying a night in the local pubs and is now a Tuesday night activity that is quite popular in the city. Using the traditional cards and ink daubers, the club runs their games just like a normal bingo hall would, but they keep the atmosphere totally appealing to the crowd they bring in, creating a memorable experience that continues to bring players back in for more.
