Bingo and expansion are practically synonymous terms these days as the game just keeps getting bigger in the United Kingdom where it has clearly become a well loved national past time for a variety of age groups and cultures. A gaming group called Rank has announced that they are set to spend over half a billion pounds to build a total of 10 new casinos in an effort that they say will expand their business by more than 30 per cent. The bingo hall chains that they own have been able to bring in more than 7 and a half million customers this year and that is good news for the company as it seeks to explore further conquests in the world of gaming. The Grovesnor Casino chain will be building a minimum of 5 casinos in central and northern UK in the coming 2 years and these will cost a total of 23 million pounds, then they will be followed by another 5 casinos after that to up the groups holdings to more than 30 casinos and 100 separate halls for bingo. With their revenue up by nearly 10 per cent for the first 2 quarters of 2010, Rank was able to pull down just less than 120 million pounds.
With customer visits rising by over 15 per cent, despite a slight 5 per cent drop in the average amount spent per visit, Ian Burk the chief executive of Rank, says that they will start with a casino in Newham and work out the deal the Government established back in 2005. The Victoria casino on Edware Road would also be allowed more than 100 new slot machines compared with the 20 that it is now allowed – big changes for more variety gamers should appreciate, say experts.
